No, change your mindset. Fuck latest and greatest. Get yourself a nice SFF or mini PC and enjoy what you currently have and do. Sysadmins, engineers, programmers (also who game as well) are having fun with used mini pcs and /or pc clusters (w Linux). Just think “software based” and don’t follow the hype…. You’re pretty much picking up the R&D bill for companies.

Slap Linux on that bad boi and you’re set. Half joking aside. That’s a nice machine, I have a similar setup and do play a few AAA games. You’re still good for a mid while. Save your money for something special. If you really NEED something, buy a band aid=mini PC, on board GPUs are pretty strong these days.

Do I see a mini pc cluster in your near future? I’ve recently started a home lab with a handful of raspberry pi’s, a Mac mini and go two of these.

I’m trying to make it a regular thing but my problem is I like to get my hands dirty by working on projects. The snag is that I get stuck a lot due to not knowing basics. My personality gets in the way = get dirty and learn fast(not necessarily shortcuts). Maybe I haven’t found that right source to learn that not too beginner and not too intermediate. Maybe a cool cluster of small projects to setup your computer then environment to setting up projects to do your everyday life takes to what you really want to learn.

Oh I would love this. I’m a Mac and Linux user and use this on Mac already. Not having to switch computers would be nice. But in general I wish more companies support Linux.
