I am as confused as you are by this comment section. She’s also given statements that are anti-genocide as well. You can be opposed to multiple shitty things.
I advocate for logical and consistent viewpoints on controversial topics. If you’re looking at my profile, I’ve probably made you mad by doing so.

Well. My child is that age and I very much relate to the protagonist. Was not expecting a gut-punch this afternoon.
One of my favorites short sci-fi stories ever.
So I know this isn’t going to be popular, but… I lived in Saudi Arabia at 14. White people were targeted for kidnapping and rape continually, and no, not only women. Men too.
I myself was very close to having both happen multiple times and escaped by pure panic and luck. My father and I were nearly killed by police with assault rifles because they wanted a bribe from my Dad. We were forced to drive into the desert at gunpoint to a “second location.”
This was not unusual for the expats.
I also went to school in Cincinnati and had the shit beaten out of me multiple times because I was white.
Racists no matter who they are racist to are fucking gross and I’m sorry you had to go through what you did. Please don’t think your experience applies worldwide though. Being white, gay, black, brown, trans, or damn near anything in some places is fucking dangerous.
Why? Having correlary traits in common with someone doing something dumb isn’t embarrassing.
Andrew Tate doesn’t make me embarrassed to be a man, he’s just embarrassing himself (and anyone who chooses those views are doing the same). We are individuals.
This is a really well-put description. Having pride in the color of your skin is fucking stupid and applies to everyone.
Pride is for achievements.
Skin color is not something anyone achieved (and no, paying for aesthetics is not an achievement either).
It’s social media. People really like to hit the “fuck you” button and not discuss anything.
You have to put yourself in their position though. If they commented anything and didn’t just casually dismiss, that would mean they’d have to think. Thinking is hard. Don’t do that to them.
Edit: They also really hate having the above pointed out, but never argue with it.
I spent about an hour and kept getting reply notifications, just like the one I got now for this (now over a month old) post. I reply. I like to interact. It’s not arguing, it was legitimate discussion, and yes, I was discussing how people like to strawman others. To my mind, it was civil.
The message I got from the mod was - nearly word for word - “get the fuck out of here with that my children matter bullshit.”
I did not misrepresent the situation.
As an addendum, the thread were I was banned was not my first exposure to them. You may be conflating two interactions.
If I may ask, what would you be running if you had to pick today?
196@lemmy.blahaj.zone
They are something else. Think like TheDonald was on Reddit, but for trans people and memes.
My first exposure to them was a thread by a mod saying that you MUST post absolute and unconditional not just approval, but promotion of what they say politically or you will be banned. It was fucking wild and nearly put me off Lemmy altogether.
That’s not exclusive to Reddit.
Looks at 196 here on Lemmy and their massive pissy baby ban list.
Edit: If you disagree, go look at the bans and their reasoning in the mod log. It’s insane, and I mean that word in the literal sense. Some fun things: they ban people for not agreeing with them vocally enough. They’ve banned people for arguing that the world isn’t beyond saving if we try. They’ve banned because (and I quote) “Get out of here with that my children matter shit”. It’s a lunatic brigade run by a clown.
I was getting issues with Jerboa doing the same thing. It took like a week of using it. My upvotes and downvotes would also not register nor was I able to comment sometimes. I had to uninstall and I am now using Connect instead.
Because if I don’t understand something, I would like an understanding of what the reasoning behind it is. We get smarter by asking people about the world. I find a lot of issues with people emerge because they don’t think about the reasoning behind any of what they are doing and simply fall into a rut of convenience instead of finding a better way to do things.
But of course on the internet, people get pretty angry when questioning a behavior they just adopted and never bothered to think about.
I just grab them and then delete them when I’m done. I still don’t understand the need to involve a corporation and their analytics in my listening activities. There’s not much time lost or regained either way so I don’t really see the benefit?
I could see how that would be handy if I listened to them on more than one device.
I don’t understand how going to a website once a week for under 10 seconds is a detriment?
It’s pretty common in Kickstarter circles to pledge a dollar to gain access to the pledge manager and decide if you actually want to make a purchase there.
I assume that’s what those people are doing?
I’m going to ask a legitimate question and I promise I’m not trolling but this seems insane to me and I have to ask.
Why in the fuck would anybody use a special app just for podcasts?
I just go to the website, download the show, throw it on my phone and I’m good to go. It takes very little time I don’t have anyone selling my listening data.
I’d genuinely like to know what the benefit is.
No no, that’s Alanis Morissette.
A trash heap where it fucking belongs.
There isn’t a thing that you can put ketchup on that a good BBQ sauce or hot sauce isn’t better on. I will die on this hill.
