Admin of programming.dev and frontend developer for sublinks
Account has automation for some scheduled posts
Site: https://ategon.dev Socials: https://ategon.carrd.co/
Since you mentioned not knowing if this is the right community. For any question where you dont know where it goes !no_stupid_questions@programming.dev usually catches everything. Theres also some other question coms at !cs_career_questions@programming.dev and !ask_experienced_devs@programming.dev but theyre more specific. I can leave this one here though, its fine (especially since theres a bunch of info here now)
If anyone still sees messages from the spammer in the comments let me know, federated removals are wonky sometimes
sublinks.org should have the icon for the project
Once it reaches parity next on the milestones is moderation features and then federation. All of the currently planned tasks are available for viewing on the github https://github.com/orgs/sublinks/projects/1
Im still heavily designing a bunch of the UI for sublinks that will eventually be used instead of the current demo (current one is just showing it has lemmy api compatibility) but if you want a very early sneak peek
Blocking doesn’t help if they just make new accounts each time
And yes there was a lot for awhile and now there’s also spam on images from the mastodon side that’s been coming in
It’s only image posts and its not all posts with a picture, just if the user has basically no posts
Some trolls post csam which is why this is currently remove everything rather than handle afterwards since I would rather not let our users see csam. If you get a bit of activity in your account that handling goes away and usually ill restore the post a bit after if I see the automod has removed It but looks like you reposted
Its people from here which is people that fit both categories so would say it has some people that do non work programming
We have a discord and matrix community for programming.dev. Currently there isnt much there in terms of chatting about programming itself (mostly just things happening in the instance and lemmy) but there could be
Was bridged but the bridge broke so theyre temporarily disconnected https://discord.gg/3ZzW6dJxHR https://matrix.to/#/#p.d:matrix.org
There was some repeated patterns that this user seems to have been doing so I gave them an instance wide ban
if it has actual content that relates to the community then its allowed
if its paywalled though or doesnt relate to programming then can be removed (programming in a general term since this was voted to be a collector community for all programming content in the instance)
mod here, its not a bot. Just a user who doesnt like to comment
Weve got a go community in the site that you might get some answers from rather than the general community here !golang@programming.dev
with that there would need some way for people to have things to initially review to get the community started. Could do something like after the first 3 posts the point system goes into effect
Just created a community request post for it https://programming.dev/post/6295144
If anyone is interested upvote the request and if anyone wants to mod it let me know
Edit: community has been made at !code_review@programming.dev
that exists in instances such as lemmit.online
the issue with having that in the main communities is communication will be one way if you try to reply to that. Theres bots such as the l4s bot that is in the middle of the two that ocasionally cross-posts link posts that are popular though. Thats still controversial but can be easily blocked
Hey, admin of programming.dev here
Heres a nice selection of communities from various of the topic instances including ours that might be nice for most people
edit, heres some more:
Fediseer tends to be what most people use to track and list this sort of thing (and its whats used for this instance)
https://gui.fediseer.com/instances/censured?page=1
A lot of blocks people have are of mastodon instances as well so if youre only interested in thread content that probably needs to be taken into account as well since mastodon instances tend to have more people than lemmy instances
It does add value, I just said what the value is. The bot isn’t just something that points out the opensource community, it’s for all communities and it just noticed here youre posting about open source which you are
But yeah open-source is one of the communities I’ve posted less to recently cause I tend to not get things I can post to it from what I normally browse but I can add some more activity there. Been mainly focusing on building up the language communities and communities that don’t even get posts in a week normally
I have two accounts, a mod account and a non mod account which I use to post called mac
I’ve been posting a ton of content on various communities (and am the most active poster) but this bot is just to help guide people from things like the programming community to the more specific topic communities to help get those active since c/programming tends to have content that would fit in those and its supposed to be a collector community to filter people towards other communities due to lemmy having bad community discovery out of the instance
I’ll be tweaking the triggers and making it fire less based on what I see happening over time
sometime in the next couple weeks probably based on their last development update
Thanks everyone who volunteered, going to reach out to some people soon (will be prioritizing people with programming.dev accounts)
edit: modded adr1an and dwraf to start off since I like to start communities with two mods. They can choose what they want to do past that. Ill be the primary mod for a bit and then will transfer that to someone in the future
