  • I’m curious about this. I’ve started playing with Reaper and getting into music recording and production. I’m very fresh on the scene and haven’t used any DAWs on any other OS, except viewed protools on Mac. I can’t quite get latency free playback, which may just be user error and configs.

Do you know if something like this will have default benefits out of the box, or will we need to somehow configure our apps and services to utilize these changes? I’m completely ignorant but am really intrigued.

  • I get around $120 a week to sell my plasma in the middle of the US at a BioLife center. Payment varies a little depending on the center you go to and various promotions, but it’s usually pretty close. It’s about 2-3 hours a week commitment.

In college, the money was necessary, but now I do it for extra side cash. My wife and I own a home, two vehicles, and are doing well, so I don’t need the money. I do it to supplement non budgeted items for fun, like weed, one or more snowboarding trips to actual elevation, and bass guitars and bass guitar accessories to name a few. Could it pay more? Probably, but I don’t feel like I’m getting ripped off for the time I’m giving.

I used to double dip, and do my hourly job while donating, which got me out of the office earlier, and got extra money. Now I’m salary and have meetings and shit.

  • That’s too bad for them, but at a certain point, people should be expected to have some level of understanding of the technology they are using. Giving people the information via a highly visible yet unobtrusive notification is more than enough to guide people that don’t understand. If they decide not to follow the clear instructions then that’s on them.

It’s kind of like no child left behind. In theory, it’s a good idea to make sure everyone is in a good position for success, but it’s not good in execution because it negatively impacts more than it helps.

Having a notice that doesn’t occupy the whole screen and can be dismissed temporarily or permanently is a much better and less predatory solution to this problem. This isn’t looking out for the end user, this is urging them into a system where the host can profit off of the user’s data, that also happens to provide a benefit to the user.

  • I think early releases of self checkouts were extremely poor and buggy. I have had minimal issues over the last handful of years, most of them would have been issues a cashier would have needed to call for help for anyway.

I also don’t feel that I’m made to do extra work. I think having someone bag groceries is a luxury anyway, and most of the time it’s done differently than I would have. I can fit all of my stuff into two bags, while a cashier will split it across 5. Many cashier’s also don’t know the difference between various produce items that requires me to tell them, when I could have just done it myself.

The only time I don’t do self checkout is if I’m getting alcohol. At some locations, I would sooner wait behind someone finishing up their self checkout instead going to an empty cashier.

You’re not the first person that unnecessarily censors words, you’re just the current one that I’m calling out. Other people do it with “Reddit”, for example. I think it’s just childish and poor communication. I just want people to say what they mean instead of this. Honestly, regardless of your or anyone’s point, if you can’t use your words, I immediate write whatever you have to say off.

You don’t have to like Google or Pixel, but we’re all adults here. Grow up and use your words like an adult. JFC, you’re not advertising for them, you’re asking a question about it.

Google Google Google Pixel Pixel Pixel

See how hard that was? Hell, you can even follow it up with, “Google Pixel phones suck and Google is a terrible company.” Censoring words for no reason is so fucking childish.
