How about this: as you scroll past an entire comment in the chain (the bottom of the comment leaves the top of the screen) the entire comment chain is shifted to the left?

I can’t think of a solution that isn’t re-rooting in one form or another. Do you know of any app that has done it differently?

The spoiler tag issue is an especially big problem as it comes up a lot. I still can’t let go of Sync as it looks and feels the best, but it would be nice if this stuff got fixed.

It was definitely the go-to abbreviation during the early days of the internet, at least in my circles. Nowadays we’ve become so anglicised that everyone just uses English norms instead.

I remember using asg as a kid/young teen, and I remember people at the time were looking down on those using “lol” or “rofl” instead, calling them silly posers.

I love this. The evolution of the slang is so interesting. I read somewhere else that Japan started to use the symbol for “grass” to mean great laughter because the initial abbreviation “www” looks like blades of grass.

A new spammer today made me think of another feature request: automatically refresh the currently viewed comment section after blocking a user to instantly remove the blocked comments.

You can add the instance to your filter list, but that seems to only block posts, not comments. Agree it would be a nice feature.

The default sort at least used to be Active. It might be Scaled now for newly registered users.

Regardless OP, it’s possible you have to change your default sort on user level in the Web UI. The setting there at least used to override Sync’s setting, that’s how you could use Scaled sort on Sync before it was officially implemented.

I’d start looking there.

Sync is actually just the best.

It’s more like AI art in reverse, when you think about it. Instead of an AI spitting out images to our taste, it’s the YouTubers pumping out images to the algorithms taste.

I actually would also like red YouTube links. I’m using Compact view, and YouTube links are not easily distinguishable. It’s not a massive deal of course, but being able to quickly parse video links would be nice. It’s a similar slick kind of feature as highlighting sticky threads.

Great point, it would be ideal if the swipe animation color matches whatever you pick in the settings.

I agree that consistency is good, so the change is probably for the better. For me though, the old way makes more sense when considering the nature of the platform: orange for “hot” and blue for “cold”. Plays better into the sorting algorithm of the frontpage for me.

For future reference, this was always LJ’s MO. He never was one for frequent communication between updates, he’d vanish for months without a word and then re-appear out of nowhere with a big update.

So if that happens again, don’t assume the project is dead. That’s just how he operates.
