Well, Reddit was open source once as well. Neither going closed source nor all the various scandals, including the last big protest, did a whole lot in changing anything at all.

The fact that the Lemmy devs, who also host Lemmygrad & Lemmy.ml, are Tankies.
Mate, that subreddit is dead because the few upvotes here are from people who came from there. So of course there aren’t a whole lot of people on that sub anymore - but that’s not indicative of the state of Reddit as a whole, especially compared to the fediverse.
Kbin, on the other hand, has too many issues.
No offense to Kbin’s developer Ernest, who is working hard, but Kbin is still in alpha stage, and it often has server errors (in fact, kbin.social is down right now, and it has been for the whole day), and the userbase and engagement are far behind Lemmy. There are also federation problems between Kbin and Lemmy sometimes. Kbin is also trying to be a more all-in-one product, with both microblogging and forums, and the users there like to have both, which is fine, but Reddit users are mostly forum users and they seem to prefer Lemmy more.
It was not fully down and this completely ignores the issues that Lemmy had when they updated to the next version a while back. Really unnecessary bashing.
But I realized later that this was a misunderstanding on my part, and that this is not an issue as long as the project is open source, with an open development, and as long as you avoid instances like lemmygrad.
Totally not suspicious, but at the minimum a bit ignorant on how open source software development typically goes. And it isn’t just Lemmygrad, but even their allegedly more moderate main instance Lemmy.ml, which is really just more of the same as far as users and moderation issues go. More problematic is the fact though that you’re still supporting the devs and their problematic views simply by supporting their software and its development by directly using it, and this won’t change until a proper fork from actually decent people is going to become the main used Lemmy software.
And overall, no one won this, because the whole protest was a failure as way too many people just remained on Reddit.
I made a post about my Gnome experiences already, which were just terrible due to how unstable the apps were and how it lacked a ton of even very basic features that I needed. So if their Wayland support is better, it’s completely overshadowed by how shitty everything else is.
Most of the issues were a year or two ago, but I every now and then switched to Wayland to see if things got better and returned to X within like hours due to issues just around the “desktop”.
I’m on AMD and had so many issues with Wayland. A lot of games were straight up unplayable due to the amount of issues and some other applications straight up not compatible while scaling is also still a freaking mess. Saying Wayland has been working perfectly for years just feels like clownery and is kinda insulting to everyone who experiences those problems.
It’s even worse. It only works based on your IP address. If you sit behind a VPN it shows you the weather data of your VPN’s server location… You can add custom locations, but you cannot default them to be used within the little weather widget. So it keeps showing me the weather and temperatures somewhere in Sweden, which are vastly different from the ones here in Germany. It’s completely idiotic and I just don’t understand why this is a thing.
Sometimes I see the rare post when I sort by Newest but it almost feels like kbin is giving 18+ submissions a low priority or something. Meanwhile when I check through my Beehaw account I see a lot of it, relatively speaking. Definitely far more than on kbin.
I love how you say yes while the other tankie troll says no. Communism is great, but when it isn’t then it isn’t communism, unless it fits our narrative, then it definitely is communism. And fascism is bad of course, but if we do the same authoritarian atrocities then they’re good of course!
Absolute clowns. 🤡
Literally counters with a “NO U!!11” reply … 🤡
Oh so Stalin and Mao were communists and ruled over a communist economy? Good to know that we have that finally cleared up. 🤡
If you’re such a fan of starvation then please, do us all the favor.
Lemmy.ml user using a hexbear hosted picture in a classic self-own. 🤡

The Lemmy devs, who are also tankies, yeah.
Tankie is as much of an “insult” as Nazi is. Spreading disinformation & insults and glorifying Stalin and Mao while defending modern ruscism is just as vile and should be cancelled just the same. And it’s funny you say well-“modded” instances. I assume you mean moderated, which isn’t even done properly on Lemmy.ml itself, as they completely ignore reports of insults & disinformation from tankies.
Whatever. Thanks for showing your true colors. At least I can tag you appropriately now.
I told you already.

Have you never talked to someone on #Mastodon yet? They all use ActivityPub as a protocol.
No. Federated = bad, thus it is red.
Instead you went with the tankies and think that’s somehow better? lol
That’s bullshit and you know it. Lemmy.ml is blocked by almost no one. I also see hexbear and Lemmygrad when I sort by New.
