I don’t think there’s a single voter already planning to vote for Kamala Harris who would stay home because the staffers of a long-dead president support her. Keep in mind, Harris and her campaign have zero control over who officially endorses her. And even among the people who are not solidly behind her, many see her as the obvious only sane choice and are planning an anti-Trump vote no matter what.

But on the other side, I could definitely see centrists and Republicans swayed by what they view as the administration of “the greatest president ever” (fuck Reagan) denouncing Trump and supporting Harris. They may not even vote for her, but if they stay home this could literally tip the election for Kamala Harris.

And we don’t care about them. But who gives a shit? They could dissuade centrist/Republicans from voting for Trump and literally tip the election in Harris’ favor…

Good points! Keyboard, monitor, and mouse are so crazy cheap (for one that is at least fully functional) that they probably aren’t worth mentioning, at least in terms of extra cost. They’re also the most easily-replaceable parts on any rig! I bet most people would be able to get free/low-cost versions of these, no matter where they live. Many people could leave workstation-level models of these for people. No LEDs or extra features, but completely usable…

Thank you for the different perspective and clarification. I’ve only visited outside the US, never lived, but I think you’re correct: customers here are worse. Entitlement practically surrounds them… I once had a couple with some minor issue as I rung up their order. They looked me in the eye, then the husband later submitted a complaint and straight-up lied about the interaction trying to get me fired. Luckily I don’t do that job any more…

Sad you included this misinformation in your otherwise good comment. Linux fundamentally works different and you can often update binaries as well as the kernel without rebooting.

And even if you couldn’t, that’s 100% a user problem. Every distro I’ve ever seen makes it clear as day when you do need to restart, so this is 100% a user issue. But I guess people will also complain if their OS forces them to reboot (like this post), so… 🤷🏼‍♂️
