Nothing about the program itself is subscription based. All of the normal features of an email client (that you would also find in Thunderbird) are available for free. You only need to pay if you want to use their services like Send later, read receipts or link tracking, because these requires backend servers and actually costs the money.

Thunderbird is the best IMO. Mailspring is also pretty good.

May I ask which tablet you use and why? Do you use an external keyboard? I find your setup really interesting, and would love to know the reasons behind it

Sounds like you need to try a tiling window manager. I find floating windows annoying as fuck, and they make you like super slow and unproductive by allowing windows to overlap or go off the screen. A tiler solves all of these problems, there are many fantastic options on GlazeWM, komorebi, FancyWM or the built-in tiling functionality of Seelen-UI on Windows.

You ssh into your phone? Or you use Termux on your phone to ssh into another machine?

Yes, I know, draw.io theoretically isn’t entirely open source, but the source code is available and it can be self-hosted. Honestly, that’s good enough for me, I think I can make an exception for this one. But generally I care a lot about strictly using FOSS too. Because Google is a monopolistic piece of shit and they try to lock you in to their shitty, privacy-invasive ecosystem. In my opinion it’s like a hundred times worse than Apple. Only Google hardware (phones and tablets) are worth buying, but only for the strong hardware security features, definitely not for the stupid proprietary software they come with by default.

I understand the idea, but I will continue to take notes, because my notes are tailored to my personal needs. A manpage lists all the options for a command, of which I probably only use a few. So I’m only going to include the ones I actually need in my notes. This makes everything much less complicated, easier to find and it saves me time. I know that there are tools like tldr or tealdeer (Rust rewrite), but they only show a few options, which might not be the options I’m specifically looking for.

It does, but the nice thing about UAD is that it comes with lists of bloatware apps for different phone manufacturers, and you can simply uninstall anything from that list without having to worry about breaking something.

Frigate is pretty nice. If you need a simpler setup, go with Rpisurv, it’s made for a Raspberry Pi, and very easy to setup and use.

I like this, but it’s mostly command-line and server related. I don’t think this would teach someone as much about running desktop Linux. This seems more like something one would use if they need Linux for their job.
