For me personally the first tell is when they are morally loading every statement in an argument and are unable to engage with a topic directly. Adults should be able to discuss or debate certain topics on the value of the arguments alone without feeling pressured to include a declarative virtue signal in every clause.

As a fan of Dune 2 I appreciate your review. I think it’s a fair criticism
It was a big hit when it came out, I remember that (I’m not sure why it made such a big splash). I also remember walking out and feeling underwhelmed because it was so hyped up (I was also 10 years younger). I’ve since become more familiar with Paul Thomas Anderson’s work and have a better understanding now. I can tell you, There Will Be Blood is a masterclass in production and storytelling. But I also understand it’s not very appealing narrative and may turn many off.
Is that a blockbuster though? PTA movies are more on the art house side in my opinion

I even stated in my post I’m NOT pro banning books. I’m just giving the other perspective. The graphic novel could be fine-it could also have dozens of pages of graphic rape. That’s not my point. My whole point is school districts have a different type of liability.

They’re saying everyone should check out anything they want at high school libraries. I’m saying school districts are mandated to execute some discretion at what they can provide. The nature of school libraries differs from general public libraries. That’s all.
Yes, in the article they mentioned not being able to segment by age at this school. If I understand correctly, high schoolers start around 14 so there is a balancing act required because the liabilities differ from those of libraries.

I was very charitable, yes? And I explained the process in place for school districts -which are not libraries- yes? I also explained there is no method in place to deliver books by age-yes? We don’t hand out books willy nilly to everyone in schools -which, again: not libraries.
Edit: since there are downvotes but no engagement with what I’m saying. School districts have different liabilities in place that libraries don’t. It’s ok if you disagree with me. I am not pro banning books. I think if they had an age appropriate delivery mechanism they should not ban any books really. That’s all.

This one’s though. The original novel is still on the shelves -they only banned the graphic novel since they don’t have a process in place to deliver books based on age groups. I haven’t read the graphic novel of the Handmaid’s tale, but I don’t know if I would read the book to 14 year olds. School districts have to make these kinds of though decisions all the time. Libraries on the other hand should never ban books. What do you guys think?
