Don’t get me wrong, actual journalists deserve a great wage. I just haven’t seen much of it worth paying for in recent years. Real journalists get locked up and it looks like the rest took that threat very seriously. I’m not going to pay money to read corporate puff pieces and controlled opposition.
I can’t imagine it’s a Tesla or it wouldn’t say anything about keeping the engine running.

Using a VPN generally increases your latency. Latency is…bad. They are advertising a negative consequence as a positive feature, banking on the target market not having enough understanding of the terms in play.

If you are hosting a discussion forum on a server that you are responsible for, does that automatically make you responsible for the content that people post on it? Even an instance the size of dbzer0 is impossible for a single person to moderate all of the content from the many communities that are federated with it. Impossible.
That’s like saying the admin of lemmy.world holds all of the wild political opinions that are posted on there.

13 years. I’m done with the platform but not just because of their API bullshit.
My worldview and beliefs increasingly seem to fall just slightly outside what Reddit mods and admin find to be acceptable opinion.
I think I’m a pretty logical and reasonable human being, but apparently my beliefs about the way of the world are enough to get me continuously banned from the platform. Genuine 13 year account, then several newer ones. In the end I have just come to terms that Reddit isn’t for me. They don’t want me there and that’s fine.
It’s not just common, it’s the entire basis of the platform.
Every dumb fucking talking point they want their users to regurgitate in the real world goes to the moon. Speak the truth and be silenced.
