If the main battery isn’t “meant to be replaced”, it will often act as the CMOS battery (e.g. MacBooks have been doing this since roughly 2008).

I find it even more puzzling as surely it has to be a decent increase in server demand to constantly be streaming video. How can that be worth it??
+1 on OnlyOffice, it has 1:1 formatting compatibility with Microsoft Office. Unlike LibreOffice, it doesn’t have to translate documents between odt and docx in the background.
In the same vein, OnlyOffice has poor compatibility with odt files etc.
Yesss fcast looks incredibly promising. Sadly the only app implementing it seems to be GrayJay, I really hope it will catch on more.
Not OP, but this instantly made me think of the worst-case scenario PDFs I stumbled upon on Lemmy recently.
Could I purchase two different brand drives and use them with btrfs?
I don’t quite remember the source for this, but I believe I read some time ago that it’s actually a good thing to have separate drives. The reasoning is, if you buy two identical drives (at the same time), the likelyhood of both drives failing around the same time is severely higher.
This is then amplified by the fact that rebuilding a RAID puts a lot of strain on the non-dead drive, so if ie. drive 1 dies and drive 2 is about to die, the strain you put on drive 2 in order to rebuild your RAID onto drive 3 might kill drive 2 before you even finish rebuilding your RAID.
Again, this is just from my memory, it might be worth doing some more research on.
While not FOSS, the closest thing we have to a drop-in replacement would be Magic Earth. It uses openstreetmap data, supports fully offline usage, has satellite images (only online though) and best of all, no tracking or telemetry.
Damn even though you explained the abbreviation I still read it as Wife Approval Factor for a second and was very confused
If your hate only goes towards touchscreens and not having physical buttons, Mazda is (or at least was) very anti-touchscreen. I haven’t done any research on their current stance or if they have good EVs, but a neighbor of mine was really happy with his Mazda ICE car for having a button for everything.
It’s not a full car or even entertainment system, but comma.ai is an opensource autonomous driving software. Last time I looked into this was a few years ago, but basically for most newer cars you can rip out the adaptive cruise control, and effevtively replace it with autonomous driving. Either powered by certain supported phones or dedicated hardware.
In that case you can try adding before:2023
or similar to your search
I really enjoyed Tetris (2023). The story was super riveting and I also really liked the soundtrack (mostly just “modernized” Tetris music).
While I do mostly agree with your statement, it’s incredibly annoying when I type in a local IP for my router or server and it automatically gets turned into https.
I have bots on and it’s mostly ever these two.
There are still reddit repost bots, but they are all on reddit repost instances. As I have those like two or three instances blocked, I don’t see any of them.
There’s a lemmy profile setting whether to show bots, you probably have that turned off.
I’m on both, the one friend I message on matrix conveniently also hosts our instance.
Nowadays I very rarely use discord (only for server voice channels, because it’s just better). The few chats I still have on discord are bridged into matrix.
For many of my friends it was easier moving them to Signal though instead of matrix.
While it’s not at the same level as Graphene OS, Samsung is pretty well supported by Lineage OS. AFAIK at least in Europe Samsung phones have an unlockable bootloader, but YMMV.
AFAIK a lot of the tech that they show off also isn’t actually theirs, it gets sent to them for unboxing / showcasing and then they have to send it back.
And the system would need to be installed in all street legal ebikes for that to happen.
Wouldn’t street legal ebikes not go too fast by default anyway? I feel like if that’s the case, this would mostly inconvenience people with legal ebikes and have barely any effect on illegal ones that can go faster.
Welp I will once again try for Hogwarts Legacy.
As for a meme, this isn’t mine and it’s kinda old but it really managed to stick in my head:
