There’s a weird thing here. I totally accept that the traditional tongue map is pseudoscience and debunked, but if you’re paying attention to something like wine or good chocolate, letting it spread across your whole tongue really does seem change the flavor and bring new aspects to what you’re tasting.
My subjective impression is that there is some effect to exposing the whole tongue to a stimulus, and I’d really like to understand it more - but when you search the web, you pretty much just get deconstructive articles about the old model, and not much about what might actually be happening.
I’ve not used LibreWolf, but assuming that Firefox addons are generally compatible, it might be worth trying Chrome Mask. It’s made by a Mozilla employee.
The post has been removed by mods - it still exists and you can link to it, but it’s delisted and won’t appear on Reddit through browsing/exploring or search.
“It’s night time, Brad”
I’m going to assume you’re being wilfully ignorant but not trying to be an ass. “Gay” is more often used of men than women, and it’s perhaps more common for people to use “lesbian” for gay women, but it just means homosexual (or sometimes more generally not heterosexual), regardless of sex or gender.
Cambridge: “sexually or romantically attracted to people of the same gender or sex”
Merriam-Webster: “of, relating to, or characterized by sexual or romantic attraction to people of one’s same sex”
Oxford: “sexually or romantically attracted to people of the same sex”
Brittanica: “sexually or romantically attracted to someone who is the same sex”
Wiktionary: “Possessing sexual and/or romantic attraction towards people one perceives to be the same sex or gender as oneself.”
Dinosaurs really had the jump on mammals in terms of time to evolve flying ability, but I’ve got faith more mammals can go that way.
Of all of the alien fauna I saw in Australia, seeing fruit bats fly over at dusk was the most memorable. (Finding engorged leeches between my toes was the second, and the emotion was quite different.)
The larvae (possibly not quite the right word) eaten by the birds lodge in the intestinal tract near the cloaca. The eggs they produce are passed out, and snails eat the eggs.

Give him all the fowl language you like, he won’t quack easily.
Don’t tell anyone, but I am not a trained duckologist.
Seriously! They’re the biggest land carnivores bar none. If you’re 5’ - 5’6" a bigger polar bear will be able to look you levelly in the eye while on all fours* and on its hind legs, it’ll be more than half your height again.
*survivability of said staring contest is low
that is a good analysis
The cost to move to America is quite steep, though, and there are significant drawbacks.
The only real issue with OpenStreetMaps is that the quality varies significantly town-to-town depending on how much love it’s had by local, knowledgable contributors. Road directions are one of the more complex things to configure in OSM, especially with complex multi-lane junctions, and so densely-populated areas and major roads are likely to be quite good, whereas more rural areas can be hit-and-miss.
VS Code’s diff tools are killer. Comparison is smarter than most, and you can edit either file as you go.
I do still search for Reddit posts when looking for opinions about products, solutions to technical problems, etc - much as I don’t want to use the platform, the quality of content is generally much higher than Quora, the Microsoft Forum, and other open discussion hubs.
I refuse to be an active user, though. I know it needs to make money, but fuck their attitude to their users and moderators.
Also Œ, Ȝ, and arguably W and U.
Rules 1 and 5 apply here - please don’t just use this as a place to rant.
!showerthoughts@lemmy.world would also be appropriate, though the mods might disagree.
