Notebookcheck is one of the best review sites, with extreme attention to detailed testing. I have e been following them for many years, over a decade for sure
I also use Zerotier for such cases. Not sure if you can somehow limit the ports they see, but works great in general
It depends also what you consider AOSP. There isn’t really an AOSP anymore, the default AOSP apps have been left to die from Google since forever, in favour of its own apps. All ROMs are just different flavours with different default apps for the needed phone functions
