Idiot proofing just results in a better class of idiot.
I try to participate on the lemmy.world community but it’s pretty slow.
Hot and Scaled are my main sorts. I alternate a couple of times a day. They get me the most interesting content.
I only check the first 3 pages of Active twice per day.
Edit: New is once per week and I generally regret it.
Pathfinder_Kingmaker. I spent ages talking about builds and strategies on that reddit sub. I still miss guiding new players into the games. The BG3 community is the closest I’ve found but it doesn’t scratch quite the same itch due to 5e’s simplicity.
Pathfinder does have a few active communities but they are all for the tabletop. The one for the game on Lemmy.world is dead as a doornail.
Sadly I think both would want it, though as you said for different reason. To our detriment either way sadly.
Great Author sadly disqualified due to date for the thread.
My only hope for her is that she has more to put out before she passes. Damned good author.
Children of Time and Shards of Earth are great and Tchaikovsky will only get better.
Upvoted for Bujold and Cherryh. That said I prefer Bujold’s Sharing Knife.
Based on the company I have to check out Tepper.
I love it too, but American Gods is it’s wellspring.
Honestly, Stardust is probably my favorite of his.
American Gods and Neverwhere are classics. Neil Gaiman’s place on this list is assured and well deserved.
Haruki Murakami is probably the best fit for the time limit you’ve requested as his first book was published in 1979, he’s considered to be one of greatest living authors, and Kafka on the Shore is a classic.
That said my nomination would be Brian Jacques. His children’s series Redwall is a long running classic on par with Winnie the Pooh and Alice in Wonderland.
This is US distancing itself from the UN.
Not a smart decision considering international politics but understandable considering the fact that reconstruction failed.
US South and New Amsterdam needs to be restructured. Authoritarian governance will only result in revolt and species destruction at current technology levels.
Trust lvls themselves are just Karma plus login/read tracking aka extra steps.
As for the lack of shitposting I think this is more down to the fact that most of Discourse’s customers are corporation who have paid mods that manage their message boards and shutdown post/conversations that are off brand or topic immediately.
If you are actually advocating that the Fediverse use Discourse’s service you have to be out of your mind. The Fediverse is practically allergic to corporations and exporting that lvl of control wouldn’t sit well with the community at large let alone most of the Admins (nevermind the cost).
A Karma system may or may not be a good addition to the Fediverse but Discourse certainly wouldn’t.
Isn’t this just Karma with extra steps?
I’m pretty much convinced that no one else in this thread has gone more than 48 hrs without eating. Of the four on the wiki I’ve tried only urchin has a different flavor dead to alive, all of the others have been texture or experiential differences.
Eating something alive does feel different.
You and I clearly have a different definition of a good evening.
sluuuuuurp ;)
Like I said couldn’t think of a better term. Maybe life affirming, similar to screwing after watching an execution. The taste of death making everything sweeter? I’m not really sure on this one, but it falls into that dodged death camp. It can be pretty intense.
Watching someone eat is sensual. None of the food described in the wiki article would be a deal breaker.
Bottom feeder complains sponge is dry.
