Yeah it’s always a whole thing of steps and shit to get to something like that. Wish it were easier or just an option or something.

The OEM install option allows you to customise your installation a bit. Upon first boot the user sets up their account and user name and they’re good to go.
It’s like buying a new laptop and setting up Windows upon first boot. Just less shit.
Wherever you end up, if you’re willing to use Flatpaks, you’ll have many up-to-date options.
Double quotes just get me flagged as a bot every single time on Startpage.
SponsorBlock and DeArrow are two essential extensions for YouTube. Both by the same creator and included in Freetube too.
Click/ragebait to force angry people to open the article because they think it’s about copilot and not just the key.
As much as it sucks, if you seriously want to use Linux you’ll have to adjust. It’s not the same system and doesn’t have all the same software. Same thing as moving to Mac. Moving from Android to iPhone or vice versa. If you are unwilling or unable to adjust then that’s fine. But realise that it’s not the OS that’s at fault. Especially when there are people who use it every day.
Instead of using an insecure and out-of-date OS, if you cannot move to Linux then at least use the LTSC version of Windows. It updates more slowly and is supported for much longer. Can also activate it the same way you activate the normal versions.
If it’s anything like Facebook lite, it’s literally a wrapper for the website. Not even a proper app. Usually a worse experience than using a real browser, but the main apps are usually so bad that people with older phones put up with the lite “apps”.
So, consent-o-matic isn’t supposed to block this. It’s supposed to reject the shit automatically whenever it pops up to save you time and frustration. Sorry if my previous comment wasn’t very clear about the difference here.
uBlock Origin can likely be setup to do the same. Just make it disappear. Would Consent-o-matic work for this?
Sure, I agree with that. But that should, at the very least, not be included in a general purpose distro aimed at beginners unless they offer it as a seperate download or something. I feel like this kind of thing should be a seperate edition of the distro or something for people who actually want it.
Anything like that should absolutely be left up to the user. The distro should not decide that for you. If you want it, install it and set it up yourself.
Something like this happened to my Logitech mouse. I had my settings saved to the onboard memory. Once I deleted and re-saved the profile onboard, it worked again. Maybe worth trying.
Considering your previous experience with Ubuntu, I would recommend Debian. Just make sure to get the right ISO for what you want.
Since you’re complaining about Ubuntu not working with ACPI power states, my next recommendation would be Endeavour to be more up to date and get fixes and stuff sooner. It’s pre-configured Arch.
Don’t know about Jerboa, but Thunder does have keyword filtering.
My browser clears history and cookies automatically when I close it. Been doing it that way for years and it works for me.
I have to login to everything everytime, but it’s worth it to me.
ETA: Because of this I don’t experience the slowdowns you mention, but it comes at the price of logins not being persistent.
