Today my dad got permabanned from Reddit because he read a post while at my house, they counted that as ban evasion and now he can’t ever make another account without also getting instabanned.

I got in trouble once for saying Luigi’s name. In a Nintendo sub. While talking about the game, Mario and Luigi: Brothership. Guess that was too dangerous.
My permaban was for using the Wi-Fi in a public place, so I think you’re right.
My theory is it’s because they’ve left the banning and appeals process up entirely to AI at this point, there are no humans involved at any stage, so you get kicked for using a trigger word or some other nonsense and then nobody actually looks at the appeal.
I’m permabanned for signing in on public WiFi, and since that’s enough to get you kicked off now, I doubt they’ll have many actual human users much longer. It’s like they just want bots, and no one real.
I don’t see how the site is gonna stay afloat with this going on. Soon there won’t be any actual users. They need eyes on the ads to get revenue, if they ban all those eyes, they get nothing. They’re just gonna have bots talking to each other and no actual content. Can’t even sell user data when you barely have any human users left.
I think they have AIs banning people now, and AIs handling the appeals. I’m permabanned, and as far as I can tell, it was just for signing in while using public wi-fi, which made the AI think I was ban evading. There are no actual humans handling this anymore. If you trigger the AI, you’re done.
AI moderation and the complete inability to send an appeal to a human.
Ban evading, on the one and only account I ever had. How I could have been evading a ban on an account that never existed is a mystery. But now I’m IP banned, and they don’t care about the appeals.
Before that, the account was temp banned for saying “trans women are women”, which was somehow “promoting violence”.
Also got banned from some parenting sub I’d never visited for posting in an LGBT sub.
I was on public Wi-Fi somewhere recently. That’s seriously enough to do this? May as well get it over with and ban everybody then.
I was permabanned for “repeated violations on my other account”, despite me only having the one account. I have no idea wtf I did wrong, the automod refused my appeal and they haven’t responded to the email I sent requesting an explanation yet.
I was recently on public Wi-Fi somewhere, which is the only explanation I can think of.
EDIT: Oh, they just don’t check the email anymore and leave everything up to AIs. Great.
Yeah, I guess I just give up now. The person who was harassing me (with death and rape threats) did get their account back, I saw. But mine will stay banned for reporting it.
I don’t have a previous one that was banned. This is my only account and it’s the second time it’s been banned without a warning for something I didn’t do. This time when I appeal they think the account that harassed me was another of mine, but it wasn’t.
Do they want to just be a read-only platform for bot-generated content?
