  • Lol. I guess it’s hard to tell when you haven’t seen the site change over time but… yeah?

It uses to be “argumentless” discussions on esoteric tech and philosophy issues… then a few years later it was people commenting the same 9 memes for 9,000 comments… then a few years later suddenly everyone’s anecdotes are praising China, or capitalism, or offhandedly mentioning some product or influencer.

Tbh tho, most of Reddit now just reads like Subreddit Simulator. All of the site’s value regarding sincere, unique, and detailed user content… yeah, that’s gone. They’re just coasting on past laurels, will be fun to watch the wheels fall off as the data stays locked in 2023, before the LLM Ouroboros.

  • Wait a minute, you’re telling me you listen and think about things? I bet you even wear glasses. Someone needs a bit more Pol Pot in their lives. /s

For those who haven’t seen it, I recommend the movie The Killing Fields. If you prefer music, listen to “Holiday in Cambodia”. Same topic in both pieces of media.

Ever listen to the (Tony Hawk Pro Skater OST) song Police Truck by the Dead Kennedys? Nice lil diddy about police brutality.

And every 2pac song was talking about what we would consider “modern issues” 35 years ago. But no, all this “woke” stuff just showed up yesterday…

    The bullshit asymmetry principle.

It takes far more text to disprove bullshit than spout the bullshit itself.

Then, to prevent your followers from reading the debunking, introduce, “Lol libs sure do write a lot, they do that because they are dumb and triggered!”

And, “I love the poorly educated” (because they haven’t been taught how to apply reason to arguments so they can’t see through my historically well-known hate tactics because they don’t read books.)

But they do understand, “Sleepy Joe!” “Crooked Hillary!”

So yeah, you’re encountering bullshit asymmetry, it sucks and our job is hard, but hey, since we are on the topic of slogans, let me paraphrase a famous one. “We do this thing or that thing not because it is easy, but because it is hard.”

The decision you are left with is knowing when to talk and when to walk away from someone who isn’t ready to listen.
