  • I think it’s fine to pay some for it.

I don’t know how your healthcare system is structured. But let’s assume there is a profit motive in getting you to donate blood. Let’s also assume profit is a problem. So we want to reduce profits.

    1. If you get €25 per donation that is €25 less profit for them per donation.

    2. The demand for blood is going to stay the same. No one will decline a live saving surgery because it’s a bit expensive and will pay anything to get it. Increasing supply will decrease profit margins.

  • Not much. You can’t spend enough of their money before they stop your spending and start collecting it.

How much credit can you get without a high income or a lot of assets? Hopefully much smaller than your mortgage (which is that the 2008 crisis was about).

Exactly what happens depends on law where you live. Here you’d get a court order: First confiscation of cash or cash equivalents. Second sale of assets, in the end your pay would be garnished. Since not everyone is forced to sell their house (like 2008) the price drop would be smaller but spread across the entire economy.

Unless you’re willing to illegally work without a contract and only take cash payments they will get their money back.

Anyone who did not participate in it would have a good time buying cheap stuff in the forced sale.

  • I don’t want kids so that narrows down the dating pool to something more like a dating puddle.

I generally keep to myself. Every social skill I have comes from deliberate practice.

I did manage to find a girl. What I did:

Figure out what my strengths are and in what situations I get to show them. I get compliments on having a pleasant voice. So anywhere I’ll talk some is good.

    Work on mitigating your weaknesses.

Work on being a {pick one or more: fun/pleasant/useful/positive/etc} person to be around.

What I did not tell you is how long I had to do this.

  • Dabbled in it since 2006. About 2012 i had problems with my network card on windows, flipped out and just installed Linux on my main home computer and have not used windows at home since.

Started with Ubuntu and it’s flavors, recently had problems with snap packages, flipped out and installed the first non Ubuntuoid distro that promised an easy install so I could get back to whatever I was doing at the time. I currently have Manjaro at home.

  • Sweden: you can apply for a licence from the police for target shooting if you’re an active member of a club, or a hunter if you have passed a hunters exam (like drivers license basically). You’ll have your criminal record checked.

Either way the gun must be suitable for the purpose. Shotguns and hunting rifles are not very hard to get. If your criminal record is clean and you’ve got the hunters exam you’ll probably be granted a licence for up to 4 hunting rifles/shotguns with the only question being if you have a large enough gun safe. You’ll get to keep them forever unless you’re convicted of a crime. (There is a debate right now if doctors should tell the police if someone is unsuitable, the argument against is that people would not go to the doctor if they suspected they could lose their guns)

Hand guns are harder to get and the license needs to be renewed every few years and you’ve got to prove that you are actively hunting/target shooting.

Magazine size for semi automatic is limited. Length of rifles and shotguns are regulated as to not be easily concealable. All firearms must be stored in a heavy safe when not used. You’re not allowed to carry it around town.

As for my opinion as a hunter it’s not excessively burdensome to get your license. The time delay has been due to under staffing rather than the laws itself. I do take issue with the “suitable for purpose” as they can arbitrarily deny you a licence because it “looks” like a military rifle.
