I’m using imagepipe from fdroid, into webp format, keeping aspect ratio. Most of my posts don’t need high res imagery anyway, just something to get the message across. What do you use?

It compresses better for lossless, and it beats JPEG at compressing lossy. It also supports transparency and animation, which JPEG lacks, and animated PNG files grow rather big.
I’ve seen plenty of images compress down to half their size in lossless mode when taking a PNG as an original. It’s quite impressive, really.
